Borsa Istanbul launched the BIST Sustainability Index in 2014 to encourage companies to create long-term value by integrating economic, environmental, and social factors with corporate governance principles. This index allows companies to enhance their understanding of sustainability, measure their performance, and report more transparently to investors.

To be included in the index, companies must exceed a threshold of 50 points in their overall sustainability scores and achieve a minimum of 40 points in each of the main categories, in accordance with the established sustainability valuation methodology. Additionally, demonstrating success with a score above 26 in at least 8 of the designated categories is among the entry criteria.
