CBAM, stands for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (also known as SKDM in Turkish), is a mechanism implemented by the European Union to bring its carbon footprint under control. This regulation specifically targets imports from carbon-intensive sectors, making it mandatory to measure the carbon emissions of imported products and apply carbon pricing. In the first phase, energy-intensive sectors such as iron and steel, cement, aluminum, fertilizer, electricity, and hydrogen have been included within the scope of CBAM. However, it is planned to include sectors such as chemicals, plastics, paper, glass, and ceramics in this regulation in the coming years.
